Diane Smith - A close friend of founder, Sandra Stanley, Smith has a successful career as the Division Marketing Manager for Encompass Home Health, knew this was a ministry she needed to be a part of, shortly after Stanley shared her vision of ODWIN. A member of Christ Chapel Bible Church, Stanley had coordinated many service programs for ODWIN. She and her husband, Brad, enjoy spending time with their two sons and a grandson.
. Kelly Carpenter - Carpenter moved to Fort Worth in 2008 as a Project Manager for DFW Citywide Construction, and set about searching for a local non-profit where she could volunteer her services. She learned about ODWIN while watching an interview of Sandra Stanley on the evening news. She faithfully volunteered and mentored the ladies in the program before being asked to join the board in 2010. Carpenter attended th University of Texas, is an advocate member of the Dallas Museum of Art and a member of Christ Chapel Bible Church. Her golden retriever, Brandy, is ODWIN’s unofficial mascot.
Suzanne Smith - A commercial real estate professional for the past ten years and an independent broker with her own company for the past three years, Smith is a mother of three children: two grown and one still at home. In addition to her work with ODWIN, she has served as a mentor with Christian Women’s Job Corp and volunteers with her son for Safe Haven. Smith is passionate about working with the women of ODWIN and serving as a vessel to provide opportunities, hope, faith and a helping hand.
Dee Dee Allen - Allen is a clinical liaison for Kindred Healthcare Hospital and was one of the first board members of ODWIN. She serves as the ODWIN Golf Tournament Chair. Allen met Stanley in the healthcare field and was inspired by her vision to open ODWIN. She feels honored to be a part of an organization that gives so much back to the community. Allen, who has worked in the healthcare field in Tarrant County for 10 years, chaired the Tarrant County American Diabetes Association for eight years and has served as Board Member of PMR Charity for seven years. She is a member of National Transition of Care Coalition and Richland Hills Church of Christ. When Allen is not busy with work and activity obligations, she enjoys cooking and decorating.
Sandra Spurrier - Spurrier has a heart for the recovery ministry done at ODWIN and feels there is a need for more programs to assist people with substance abuse issues.
As area director of marketing for Skilled Healthcare, she oversees marketing initiatives for Cityview Care Center, West-Side Campus of Care, Fort Worth Center of Rehabilitation and The Dallas Center of Rehabilitation. An advocate for senior citizens, Spurrier has organized and facilitated many outreach efforts in the community including the Senior Health Fair at Lockheed, Senior Day at the Zoo and various golf tournaments. Because of her experience with other golf tournaments, Spurrier helps organize the annual ODWIN Golf Tournament to benefit the women in the program. Spurrier is a proud mother of two children and three grandchildren.
Whit Smith - Smith is the President and Founder of Whitney Smith Company, a human resources consulting firm in Fort Worth. He is licensed as a private investigator through the Texas Department of Public Safety and is a professional safety source to the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Personnel Management and Marketing, Smith also completed the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking program at Southern Methodist University as well. Smith has served as Chairman or President of the Board of The Fort Worth Opera Association from 1999 to 2007. He currently chairs the Strategic Planning Committee and is a board member of the All Saints Health Foundation, All Saints Episcopal School, Amphibian Stage Productions and the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. Smith is the Secretary and Treasurer of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce as well as the past President of the Parenting Center and Chairman of the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. He also served on the boards of United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County and The Women’s Center.
Whitney Harwell - Her journey with Opening Doors for Women in Need started with a bible study at the ODWIN house in the summer of 2007. She was inspired by Sandra Stanley’s passion for helping women in re-entry from prison and watching her meet the needs of not only the women in the program, but also the needs of members of the community. After working with ODWIN for some time, She talked with the rector of her parish, Father Fred Barber of Trinity Episcopal Church, who was interested in developing a relationship between Trinity and ODWIN. Since that time, Trinity has begun a year-round collection of paper towels and toilet paper, includes ODWIN women and children in its Christmas Angel Tree gift program, and began an annual Mothers’ Day Luncheon benefiting ODWIN. She is married to Glenn Harwell; they have one son. When not busy volunteering, Harwell works part time as an electrologist and also as a legal secretary at the law firm of Harris, Finley & Bogle, P.C. in Fort Worth
Andrea Zeiner - Zeiner’s ministry to the prisoners of San Quentin in 2008 stoked her interest in working with those who had been incarcerated. This experience, coupled with having served as charter president of Explore Tarrant County, a non-profit organization that helps women develop their potential, made volunteering at Opening Doors a perfect fit. The women in the ODWIN program continually inspire her. Zeiner holds a bachelor’s degree in Community Service from University of North Texas. She is employed by Edward Jones Investments and previously worked as a mediator for Dispute Resolution Services. Additionally, Andrea is a Stephen Ministry leader. Andrea and her husband George have two children and four grand boys. They attend Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth, where she serves as a Stephen Ministry leader. Zeiner enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, traveling and practicing yoga.
